Last month I had the awesome opportunity to go to boot camp in Gainesville, Georgia. It lasted four days from June 16-20. The reason I haven’t posted a blog before now is because honestly, I’ve been procrastinating. I thought if I gave myself enough time to process boot camp that the words would magically come to me on what to say. I now realize that no amount of time or processing could help me adequately describe the joys I experienced during those few days. So here is me doing my best.

One word that God continually put on my heart was vulnerability. Over and over again I saw myself and my squadmates share such personal things with each other. We shared cool stuff, ugly stuff, weird stuff, and all of the stuff we generally try to keep hidden from the world. Throughout this God continually showed up through our group with compassion, understanding, and acceptance. Never have I seen a situation where so many people my age showed empathy for one another in a Christ like manner.

It was so cool to see that even though most, if not all, of us struggled during boot camp, we had God and each other to turn to. So many times we turned to Christ for love, peace, and even rest when our spider infested tents wouldn’t give us any. I must admit that as time comes closer to training camp, my heart is filling with anxieties and doubt. But because I’ve met the beautiful family I’ll be sharing this next nine month season with, I can’t wait to see what awesome things God has in store for each one of us.

Always His,

Jaiden
